This location, the excellent climate and the simplicity of  the Cyprus lifestyle provide an ideal place to get away from it all and totally relax at any time during the year. Tala itself is centered around the village square and the  important medieval  church of  Agia Ekaterini

(St Catherine) which was built  during the 15th / 16th century. Also 2 kilometers outside the village is the monastery of Agios Neofytos which was founded at the end of the 12th Century by the Cypriot hermit & writer Neofytos.

The Egkleistra, an enclosure carved out of the mountain contains some of the finest Byzantine frescoes dating from the 12th to 15th century. Please note pictures of the inside of the church are strictly forbidden as we have politely advised.

However for those that prefer a slightly more energetic time , then Paphos is ideal. Paphos was once the Roman capital of Cyprus, and as such the surrounding area is steeped in history of the Ancient Greeks and Romans. Pahos itself is split into two areas, Kato PaphosKtima Paphos.

Kato is the newer part of the town and is centered on the colorful harbour. Although Kato is the newer part there is a  small fort at the western end of the port, Nea Kato which dates back to at least the 11th century. At this end of the harbour you will find the working fishing boats, and most of  the day trips and speed boats for hire. Also this is where you will find the majority of fresh fish restaurants. Further along the harbor is the stalls selling all the souvenirs etc.

Ktima is the older  and further inland. Where as Kato is centered around  the harbor, Ktima is centered around market and main shopping area including the banks etc. which are all housed in the small narrow streets that zig zag across the area. You will also find the outdoor market with an abundance of fresh fruits , vegetables and meats. Combine all of this with the fresh fish from the harbor and you have ingredients for some excellent restaurants
